Buzzard’s Rock

My best friend Andrew, who lives in Missouri, came to visit me in the mountains for a weekend. I think time might have spontaneously warped into super speed while he was here. It felt like he had to leave as soon as he arrived! We didn't waste a second, though. We had as much fun as we possibly could the short three days he was here. We spent some time country crusin' and we spend some time in the city. He got to meet my boyfriend for the first time, and I finally got to show him all the little diamonds nestled in these mountains that I have found since moving here. One of those being my favorites, Buzzard's Rock. We went at the absolute perfect time of day too. I had been there a few times and had never seen a more gorgeous sight than I did that day.
Exhibit A:

I took the majority of the pictures while he was here with my film cameras and haven't developed them yet so right now there's only one picture of us together from his visit.

Honestly, I laugh pretty hard every time I see this picture. Yes, he really is that tall.

Oh and what I'm sitting on in this picture is the actual rock of Buzzard's Rock. It's purple! How much more awesome did this place become?!

He'll be visiting again in the summer. I can't wait!! He's always been more like a brother to me. Oh, and I failed to mention him and I are telepathically connected, or we have incredibly similar thought patterns, or something like that because we're pretty much the same person I'm just the girl version and he's the boy version. Maybe I'll elaborate more sometime in the future.

The prettiest rainbow I ever did see.

I walked by my kitchen window the other day and noticed this out of the corner of my eye:

(It had faded away a little by the time I took this picture.)

I literally gasped. I looove rainbows! Honestly how can you not, though! It was so bright! It was also a double rainbow!! I nearly fainted!

You'll have to excuse how poorly stitched together this photo is, but you get the idea.

It snowed, finally, on and off all day. It was so windy though that not much didn't stick. But that's a good thing because Valentines Day is just around the corner and my boyfriend has some super secret plans for us and I'm dying to know what they are!! I would hate to get snowed in and have to postpone anything.

Timmy the Kitty

My neighbor Jada is an older woman that lives alone with her cat Timmy. Recently Jada's father (who lives in Wisconsin) became ill so she packed up and drove to where he is to take care of him and will be gone for what she says will be for a couple months. I don't know why she couldn't take her kitty with her but I'm glad she didn't because she asked me to take care of him while she was gone. Yes! I was so excited! So now everyday, twice a day I go feed Timmy and give him fresh water and change his litter box and sweep if he made a mess and play with him and it has been a dream come true. It makes me want my own cat so much harder!

I've recently learned how to crochet so of course I immediately had to make him some toys. He loves them too! I guess his kitty instincts kick in as soon as I break the yarn out, it entertains him much more than all his other toys.

He's beginning to believe all yarn is his now. And so is everything I make. I was making a cowl for myself and I would work on it while spending time with Timmy and he took an extreme liking to it.

He would come lay on it while I was working on it. D'awhh!

He isn't a cat that likes to sit and be pet, he likes to be pet as he is passing you. When he would lay on my cowl he would actually sit still for a long period of time and let me pet him the whole time! It was so sweet! I wasn't doing a very good job on the cowl anyways and there were a lot of mistakes (I was still learning) so I just cut and tied it off and gave it to him as a little kitty blanket. He loves it so much and lays on it constantly. Its adorable!

He is so precious! I'm so happy I got the opportunity to to take care of and spend time with a kitty! I'm a huge cat/animal lover but sadly I'm currently catless :( So being able to bond with Timmy really means a lot to me. He is a big ole sweetie!

Where's All The Snow?

It has only snowed two or three times around my neck of the woods, but NONE of it has stuck! By this time last year, the snow gods above dumped a foot on us on two separate occasions almost back to back. Did we use two years supply worth of snow last year and now we have to pay for it this year? The news has been running their mouths about "unseasonably warm weather" and "a warming trend that will take us into January". Stop it! It is nice to still get away with wearing skirts with stockings and light jackets but I'm ready to play in some snow!

Some surrounding areas (looking at you, Madison County) keep teasing me with their snowy mountain peaks. It's no fair.

At least its a beautiful way to tease me.

The xx - XX

I work for a company that packages CDs. I stand in one spot and put thousands of CDs in thousands of CD cases for eight to ten hours a day. It's really more exciting than I'm making it sound. We mostly package computer games and audio books, but every once in awhile an album will come through. And so far every album that has come through has been a band/artist that I love. I squealed when I opened a box containing Vampire Weekend's Contra album cases. I jumped up and down in delight when the CDs for St. Vincent's album Actor was brought out onto the work floor. And I nearly cried tears of joy when we did an order of Camera Obscura's My Maudlin Career. Ahh!! The most recent album to come through is called XX by a band called the xx. It didn't say the album or band name anywhere on the case and it was on such a small print on the actual CD that I almost missed it. Packaging this particular CD was a HUGE pain.

That X on the left is cut out on both sides, so when you slid the white booklet in it would get caught every. time. It was ridiculously aggravating! But the pictures inside the booklet and pretty much everything about the album in general was very appealing to me. So when I got off that day I promptly searched them online. I was not prepared for the obsession that would result from looking them up. Their tags on last.fm are indie, electronic, post-punk, British, and dance. This combination isn't normally my cup of tea, but this band is truly amazing! There's two that do vocals and their voices mesh so well and compliment each other in a lovely way. I highly suggest giving them a listen if you like sounds and instruments and voices being beautifully layered together creating a magical listening experience. And if you like bass.
